Alaska – the last frontier, a beautiful place with an incredibly diverse ecosystem ranging from lush green tropical rain forests to gorgeous blue icebergs, glaciers and ice fields. A place words cannot describe. A place you must experience for yourself!

 

JUNEAU

 

DAY 1

Your trip starts in the town of Juneau where you will fly into the local airfield and the next day enjoy a private helicopter ride up into the Juneau Ice field. Your pilot will take you thru lush forests, glassy alpine lakes, jagged mountain peaks and awe-inspiring glaciers. The helicopter will land several times allowing you to walk on the glaciers and experience what the top of a waterfall truly feels like! You will see moose, mountain goats and possibly bears! In the afternoon enjoy the sights of Juneau and the wonderful shopping for Indian art. Evening cruise to the Inian Islands.

Enjoy a private visit to the longest (and steepest) zipline in the world. This zipline consists of six mile long cables that start from a towering height of 1,330ft.

GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK

 

DAY 2 - 3

Enjoy magnificent scenery along the way and great opportunities to see Humpbacks and Orca’s in the Icy Strait. Spend the night at anchor within the Park and get ready to cruise up to the glaciers the next day. Whilst you are in the anchorage, keep an eye open for whales cruising thru. For the more adventurous, we can organize a kayaking tour that will bring you up close and personal with the Humpbacks. Early the next morning you will depart towards the John Hopkins and Lamplugh Glacier, where you will have good opportunities for glacier carving and wonderful photo opportunities.

There is an excellent chance of viewing both Humpbacks and Orcas within the Park, as well as, Sea Lions and many species of birds including the famed Puffins. Your second day in Glacier Bay Park may be cruising through gorgeous glaciers or hiking through a river trail where you will most

 

certainly have a close encounter with a black bear or two. Fly Fishing can also be arranged on this river if the Salmon are running during your visit.

Hire a fishing guide for the day and fish for Salmon and Halibut by boat – good eating for dinner!! Whale watch whilst you are fishing, what could be better! The fish you catch is freshly packed for you to take back to the boat or it can be shipped to your home.

CRUISE TO SITKA

 

DAY 4 - 5

Depart from Glacier Bay towards Sitka thru the Peril Straits. There are several places to stop along the way for a hike, fishing, or even some diving, including the wreck dive of the SS State of California, wreck dive on the SS State of California. This 300' ship sank in just 3 minutes after running across a submerged reef on the 17th of August, 1913. She now sits on a slope at a depth of 85'-220' in Gambier Bay, Alaska. The town of Sitka is incredibly scenic and the art shopping is fantastic. Visit the bird sanctuary and enjoy a scenic hike.

PERIL STRAITS AND CHATHAM STRAIGHTS

 

DAY 6 - 7

Depart Sitka thru the Peril Straits and into the Chatham Straits, stop for a few hours or overnight and enjoy the beautiful waterfall and hot springs in Warm Springs Bay and then continue south to an overnight anchorage in Red

Blu Bay - a deep hidden anchorage with a waterfall and great opportunities for seeing bears at low tide. This is a great place to kayak and to also try your luck at some salmon fishing.

 

BEAR SANCTUARY AT ADMIRALTY ISLAND

 

DAY 8 - 9

In the morning depart from Pybus Bay up into the Seymour Canal and towards Windfall Harbor and the private Bear Sanctuary on Admiralty Island, home to one of the largest population of brown bears in Alaska. The anchorage is spectacular and at low tide you will most certainly have wonderful displays of brown bears and cubs playing and feeding in the grass flats. The Bear Sanctuary is set in a lush temperate rain forest which you will hike thru to reach the bear viewing areas, there are chances you may see bears along the way as well as Mink. You can easily spend two nights in this anchorage watching the bears, kayaking and taking pictures! Entry to the park is by private permit only and so the experience is truly special as the numbers are kept very low.

JUNEAU

 

DAY 10

Return to Juneau. This will complete your truly wonderful experience of the Inside Passage of Alaska!
